The Reverend Terrence W. Hall (Fr. Terry) is Rector of Saint Hilda of Whitby Anglican Catholic Church. Born in Wichita, Kansas in 1940, Fr. Terry was educated at the George Washington University, Washington DC (AA & AB), the School for Deacons of the Diocese of California, San Francisco (BTS), and Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California (MAT).

Fr. Terry was ordained as a deacon in 1982 and served in four parishes in two dioceses of the Episcopal Church in California, He and his wife Donna relocated from California to be close to their grandchildren and were received into the Anglican Catholic Church in 2009.  To this day, he will tell you that being received into the Anglican Catholic Church was the answer to a prayer as was his coming to St. Hilda’s.  Fr. Terry was ordained as a priest in 2011 and assumed duties at St. Hilda’s with the departure of his predecessor later that year.

Having moved often both as a child and as an adult from service in both the military and as a civilian employee of the Department of Defense both at home and overseas, Fr. Terry was brought up in a relatively generic Protestant environment which left him feeling that there had to be something more.  Throughout his quest to find a spiritual home, Fr. Terry and Donna have always sought out welcoming, engaging, warm people who share common interests including fine arts, history, travel, and reading.  Fr. Terry believes that he has found all of this as well as a passion to serve the church and the world among the people of St. Hilda’s.

Father has received specialized supplemental training in the church renewal (Cursillo), spiritual development (Spiritual Directors Institute), prison (KAIROS) ministries as well as in the related evangelization arena (pastoral Crisis Intervention & Friendship Evangelism).

It is no surprise to those who know him that when asked what his favorite non-Biblical quotation is, Fr. Terry unhesitatingly responds,

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he today that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,

This day shall gentle his condition…”

                                                            Henry V, act v, scene ii

                                                            (St. Crispin’s Day speech)

                                                            William Shakespeare

Again it is no surprise that Fr. Terry is fond of quoting from I Corinthians 10:13

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

1 Corinthians, 10:13
