Meet Father John

The Rev. John L. Roddy was born in Austell, Georgia, and attended the University of Georgia where he received a B.A. degree in Journalism and enrolled in the ROTC. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army until 1979, and in the U.S. Army Reserve, from which he retired in 1998 as a Lt. Colonel.

On leaving active duty, he worked in Washington, DC as Legislative Director for Sen. John East (R-NC) and in the U.S. Dept. of Education. In 1995 he returned to Georgia, where he served as Director of Federal Programs in the Ga. Dept. of Education until 2000.

Fr. Roddy attended Holyrood Seminary in Liberty, N.Y., where he studied under the Most Rev. Archbishop Brother John-Charles Vockler, F.O.D.C. and the noted Canon Stephen J. Dibble. He was ordained to the priesthood in November 1999 by Archbishop Mark Haverland, Ph.D. Most recently Fr. Roddy has done graduate work in the School of Theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

Fr. Roddy resides in Marietta, Ga., with his wife Carolyn, and their children Elizabeth, Tyler, Andrew, and Katherine.
